When any student attends our performing arts school, their welfare is our fundamental responsibility. We never take lightly the trust that a parent or carer places in our organisation when they leave a child in our care. We have a clear commitment to their protection and safeguarding at all times.
Bodens Performing Arts is an OFSTED-registered childcare provider. All our staff and teachers have undergone an Enhanced Clearance through the DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service).

Our school also operates rigorously under the same educational safeguarding responsibilities as our full time college. Our teachers receive regular training, and our DSL (Designated Safeguarding Lead) completes regular courses to ensure our policies and practices are consistently in line with government guidelines.
We also have trained Mental Health First Aiders within our team.

As an educational provider, we have a responsibility to adhere to the statutory guidance, protecting and promoting the health and well-being of students. Our main safeguarding responsibilities include:
- Providing a safe environment in which children and young people feel heard.
- Creating positive relationships with students premised on mutual trust and understanding.
- Be aware of the indicators and symptoms.
- Ensure vigilance in recognising changes in behaviour or mood.
- Supporting the Designated Safeguarding Lead.
- The hiring and safe recruitment of staff.
- Ensuring all staff have received the relevant training.
- Teaching about staying safer online and in the real world.

When a child or young person attends Bodens Performing Arts, their safety and welfare are our fundamental responsibility. We never take lightly the trust that parents and carers place in us when leaving a child in our care, and we are committed to safeguarding and protecting every student who attends Bodens.
Bodens Performing Arts is an Ofsted-registered childcare provider. Our staff and teachers undergo the appropriate Enhanced DBS checks as part of our safer recruitment and safeguarding procedures.
Our performing arts school operates within the same robust safeguarding framework as our full-time college. Staff receive regular safeguarding training, and our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) undertakes ongoing training to ensure that our policies and procedures remain in line with current statutory guidance and best practice.
We also have trained Mental Health First Aiders within our team.

We have at least one trained first aider on site at all times, and all our first aid trained staff regularly refresh their training.

In addition to our highly experienced internal team, we have a fire safety company that regularly monitors the building, ensuring our alarms and fire safety equipment are correct, working and in place.

The health and safety of our students, staff and visitors is a priority across all our centres. We have at least one trained First Aider on site at all times, with first aid-trained staff undertaking regular refresher training to ensure their knowledge and skills remain up to date.
Our senior team oversees health and safety across our centres, carrying out and reviewing risk assessments to identify potential hazards and ensure appropriate measures are in place. Our performing arts school operates within the same health and safety framework as our full-time college.

In addition to our experienced internal team, we work with a specialist fire safety company that regularly inspects and monitors our premises, fire alarm systems and fire safety equipment to ensure they are properly maintained and in working order.

photography, filming and data
We take the photography and filming of our students, and the handling of personal data, seriously. We have clear policies governing how photographs, video and other recorded material involving children and young people may be taken, stored and used by Bodens Performing Arts.
Information about photography and filming is provided as part of the application process before a student attends our classes. This explains how images and recordings may be used and the choices available to parents, carers and students.
